AMARA PROJECT
An exhibition by Escuela de Arte nº1 will be opened at Valdecilla Hospital. This exhibition is part of the AMARA project, which is included in the Plan de Escuelas Solidarias, showing the works by the school students. The exhibition shows a series of jewellery pieces, photographies and explanatory boards with information on the work by the students. This social-artistic project was born thanks to the cooperation of Escuela de Arte nº1 and Amara Cantabria association. This association aims at providing welfare and care to families of children with cancer. It is worth mentioning that Hospital Universitario Marques de Valdecilla has invariably enhanced the students’ work and the use of its building facilities. The Amara Project was developed all through the school year 2017/2018 and coordinated several educational activities based on Learning and Service, also, it worked from different perspectives and formats, integrating three Fine Arts and Design Vocational Studies in Cantabria.
THE TREATMENT: A JEWEL
The students of GS JOYERÍA ARTÍSTICA designed and made a jewellery Collection based on two prerequisites. Concerning the form they used medical treatment materials, and concerning the concept they analyzed the interpretation of a jewel as a metaphor for the oncology treatment. Thus, the final aim was to appreciate the treatment and its process through the jewel as the chance to overcome pain and disease.
ILLUSTRATIONS
The illustration work was carried out by the students of 2º GS ILLUSTRATION and was tackled in two different projects with a single and common aim: cooperation to make patients’ stay in hospital more pleasant
PHOTOGRAPHY AS THE PROJECT FACE
The ARTISTIC PHOTOGRAPHY students worked in two different directions. On the one hand, they took Product Photography of the pieces made by Jewellery students which were made with hospital materials and, on the other, they tackled EDITORIAL PHOTOGRAPHY through the pictures of the jewels on human models.
The exhibition showing the works mentioned above can be visited from Monday to Friday in the exhibition room of Hospital Universitario Marqués de Valdecilla, building number 2, from 16:00 to 20:00.
